The fields surrounding the town of Bethlehem
lie forsaken. No one is working in the fields, even
though it is the time of harvest. Why are the
men not working? Why are they not harvesting
the wheat? Why are the women and children
not in the fields to bind the ears into sheaves,
or to gather the fallen ears? It is because there
is no wheat this year;
