Until the end of the first two decades of the 20th century, it was widely believed that Hinduism was the religion of the Aryans – the Indo-European nomads – who migrated to India around 2000 B.C. But, the archaeological excavations at Mohenjo-Daro in Sindhu and Harappa in West Punjab have brought to light that the Indus Valley was a cradle of civilization that was contemporary with Egyptian and Mesopotamian civilizations.
