This psalm is meant for the chief musician – of whom David had appointed three – thus a
psalm that was used in the liturgical worship. It is a psalm for the sons of Korah. The children
of Korah belonged to the Levites who sang in the temple to praise the LORD God of Israel
with a loud voice on high, as we read in 2 Chronicles 20:19.
